Yes he did, but also a lot of present day Polish territory. That's why I asked. Is this in a part of Poland that was once German territory? Silesia?

          • Am totally confused as most of Kaiser Wilhelm's empire was N. Europe, by my lights. The latter, for me, includes France, N. of Lyon, Switzerland (except Ticino), Austria, Hungary, through to the Black Sea, via Romania, as well as Germany, ex-Czechoslovakia, Poland, the Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine, European Russia, Benelux, UK and the Nordic countries. "My" border would be roughly along the 45th to 47th parallel.

            • IMO, N. Europe = Nordic countries. Austria is hardly N.Europe.

              • OK, it's the Imperial palace in Poznan.

What does "youngest" have to do with it?

Brian, look at this map and consider again if France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania can be called Northern Europe
                  (this almost represents my views...)

edit: heck, geometric center of Europe, depending what you include into Europe, is placed usually in Czech, Latvia or Poland...

                  • And of course Kurt gets it.

I'm not entirely sure if it's the youngest castle in Europe overall (probably yes), but for sure youngest Kaiser/German one.

some trivia not one the site: the chapel in the tower was transormed during WW2 into Fuhrers office (though its uncertain if it was ever used that way) - it's completelly untouched since then; many movies/historical documents with Hitler behind his desk etc. are shoot there. Also, apart from the cinema and exhibitions, there are few excellent pubs and jazz club in the undergrounds. Time slows down and you can have good time when your cellphone stops working (yep, I live in the city)

And I just realised something - it could be called a school at some point, as KvH suggested (my University was in it between world wars). But since info about it in PL web is extremely scarse, not to mention EN...

But, as it is evident from my pictures, they're restoring its former glory. (well...basically it's just dirty . But you know, I kinda liked it's former, "creepy" look ) And I hope they'll never touch the tower - it's best the way it is now
