          • Linlithgow Palace, in Linlithgow, just West of Edinburgh.

All of the Stewart kings lived here, and numerous renovations to the palace’s grand facades and chambers were carried out as each sought to create the ideal modern palace. The birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots.

            • Bloody hell, I spent the first 19 years of my life within spitting distance of it -- OK longish spit! Never been inside it or close to it, though. I hang my head in shame.

                      • I agree with Novdid. I'll go further. The sun is low in the sky but there are few lights in the office blocks and few cars in the park, so I suggest it is dawn, rather than sunset. That may suggest East coast, rather than West (although it could be SF bay). However, the brick power station in the middle of the city looks very architecturally similar to the one in Baltimore (which I'm pretty sure it isn't, because the Inner Harbor doesn't have all that water). Now the big question is whether the water is sea, bay, strait, river or lake. My gut feeling is lake. How about somewhere on the W side of Michigan????

                              • North America is correct. It is not on Lake Michigan.
