              • Aberdeen???? (Only because the stones look like granite setts and it is nicknamed the Granite City)

                      • Well, one oak leaf could indicate Germany, there's also one maple leaf.

                        • What country doesn't have a representative of the quercus and acer families? There is a probability that they are from deciduous trees, so that implies it is probably in the temperate zone between say 40° and 60° if in the N Hemisphere.

If it's not Aberdeen or nearby, I'll plump for Belgium. Why? Because the largest producer of granite setts is there., in a town whose name I've forgotten but begins with L (not Liège). In the middle of the town, there are two massive holes in the ground where the stuff has been quarried for centuries, just for roadmaking blocks. Just come back to me, Lessines. The stuff is exported world-wide as Belgium Blocks.

                            • The "Maple" leaf could also very well be a London Plane (Platanus x Acerifolia) leaf; this tree is very popular in european cities due to its resistance against frost, air pollution and root compaction. (Wikipedia is your friend )

I'm still guessing middle to eastern europe.

                              • True, or a simple European Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) which is, of course, related closely to the maples.
