If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
Jeremy Clarkson "806 brake horsepower..and that on that limp wrist faerie liquid the Americans call petrol, if you run it on the more explosive jungle juice we have in Europe you'd be getting 850 brake horsepower..."
Personally, I would buy a truck just for the fun of it. I don't have to have a reason. I have always loved trucks and I always will.
I love the fact that I have dual exhausts, cold air intake, and a new throttle body. I love how it sounds driving down the road. I love that it towers over people and how I get the right of way the majority of the time.
I love how the big fat rims look on the oversized tires. I love the clearance it gets off the ground.
I only get 10-12 mpg in my truck. If I don't commute with my buddy, it costs me ~$300/month for gas. Cut that in half if I commute. It has cost me $2500 so far this year for gas. Gas is definitely the biggest factor in owning this truck. If it wasn't paid for, I'd consider selling it because gas has gone up so much in the last few years.
Really though, it annoys me that people have always frowned upon trucks for various reasons. It's like me telling you not to buy that X800 XT because you are not being responsible since you can play D3 perfectly fine with a 9700 Pro. Not only that but all of the leads in computer parts go back into landfills and pollute the environment, heat, packaging waste, blah blah blah.
But in the end, If you want to get technical I'd be willing to bet that the amount of money I spend on gas gets saved from the other things I don't have to pay for such as towing, hauling, etc...
If I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy a huge truck just for fun.
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

I happen to think that the X800XT is a waste as well, but for different reasons. Never pay for the top of the line in computer equipment. Go one or two steps down to get 90% of the performance for half the price.
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Ah come one! I don't think that's a fair comparison.
All I am saying is that I see loads of these 4x4s and they are plainly NOT used for driving off road because they are SPOTLESS
I am sure there is a legitimate need to be able to tow things. I just think that for the average Joe it is probably not necessary and perhaps a tad irresponsible.
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

I will continue to argue my point
OTOH, I see lots of sports cars that are NEVER driven fast. You see, for every biased reason you give about trucks, I can dish out one for cars.
Trucks seem to have a bad rap because of SUV's and gas. Or maybe its the stereotype of Billy Bob Joe that goes along with trucks.

Trucks were very popular at my school, probably because it is a big Ag school: We called them Cal Poly Convertibles. I really would have liked a pick-up in the earlier years of owning my home. It would have really come in handy for furniture/appliance deliveries as well as for bringing home trees from the nursery and heavy loads from the quarry. I didn't care for the idea of keeping an extra vehicle on the property though as I preferred to commute in something more agile. We got the wife a wagon instead (automatic 4-wheel drive).

And yet they still get better gas mileage. And unlike trucks, the sports cars are not putting the safety of the driver ahead of the safety of other drivers on the road.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
I want a truck, with a Baja body kit and Baja approved suspensions including a skid plate for the oil pan and tranny. Big gas guzzler yes, but a lot fo fun indeed!!
@Helivitia: I find that trucks get a bad rap cause most of em are used for putting around the city, and barely used for anything else than that. Why do you need a huge as Escalade, or a Dodge Ram with a V10 when all you do is just drive around? It's those types of people, IMO' that give trucks a bad rap.
Titanium is the new bling!
(you heard from me first!)
Btw, whats the best selling vehicle in North America?
