Best selling in canada is different though. I can't remember the source for this, but I'm pretty sure it's accurate.

    Previous several years: Honda Civic
    So far this year: Mazda3
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

I agree 100% that cars get much better gas mileage most of the time, but the point is, why buy a fast sports car if you aren't gonna drive it fast?

For the same reason someone will buy a 4x4 and never use it...because they can!

My gas guzzling truck still does 10 times more things than any car can. So the gas argumet is a moot point since my 10 other things I can do out weighs the cost of you payign someone else to do those things for you.

If all of you really followed what you preached, you would own a hybrid car, with a tow hitch on the back and then buy a trailer to attach to the back of it. Tell me how many people do that?

And the safety issue...Where do I start.

Americans will bitch about not being able to buy guns because it goes against the constitution, but buying a truck, which can possibly kill someone in another car is considered irresponsible. Show me the logic in that?

OK, so I just opened up a huge can of worms I'm sure. Just remember to argue your point with facts instead of feelings. Keep it clean and come out boxing! ding ding!

Vehicles and guns both require the user to possess a valid license for their legal use, yet irresponsible idiots still are issued these licenses.

Exactly my point! It does not matter if you own a gun, shovel, truck, toy, pillow, whatever! Any of the above items can kill someone.

I owned a nissan Maxima in Australia with a dual fuel conversion - back then hybrid cares were not an option, I have been here a while.

It had a tow ball, I would just grab a trailer from the service station when I needed one, of the appropriate size (from 6x4 - about $8 for the day - to a 20'x6' fully encolsed trailer - $30 for the day) depending on what I was doing.

There was nothing in city use that I could not do with my Maxima that I could do with a truck. I had a small SUV with a hard canopy over the tray for work.

Again tell me what the truck can do that a car can't in city driving?

I seem to remember seeing some humongous truck in an Austrailian movie. It seemed to be wider than normal, with three trailers, and was seen barrelling down an outback highway. Ever see one of these, Dan? Are they really bigger than normal vehicles?

                          18 wheeler?

there called road trains, and they only are used in certain parts of Oz. its a normal 18 wheeler truck with two mor trays. legth of just over 300 feet.

                          You don't argue with them.

aren't you supposed to be on vacation

And you are right, you can do most things with some cars and trailers that I can do with my truck. Unfortunately, it is way less convenient and much more work. So i guess convenience wins over for me. Not to mention the fact that cars are so ugly

                              Crap! Look at this!

I did some reading as well and apparently they have a 98 Wheeler

edit: after looking at the picture again, I think that may be the 98 wheeler!

I think trucks with more than 2 trailers are illegal in California due to the nasty accidents they can cause.
