Let's just say that modern-day Christians, Jews and Muslims have all distorted their original teachings to suit their own agendas, to the extent that Jesus, Moses and Muhamed would not recognise their so-called followers.

Schmosef, you hijacked this thread with the third post in it and I was foolish enough to respond to your irrelevance. We'll never agree because you are ultra-biased against Islam and will distort what it stands for to suit your prejudice, whereas I try to equate neutrality with my own experience in a number of Muslim countries. I tried to show you that what extremists do is not limited to the ME and to Muslims, by taking N. Ireland as an example of the same distortions of fundamental teachings. All you do is to cite passages out of context and extremist misinterpretations of them. I could have cited similar distortions that some hot-headed Israelis have committed, but I refrained, for respect of your faith. As I said before, it takes two to tango. The passages I cited go to great lengths to explain their context. And yet I don’t think that any amount of background would satisfy you. You’ve made up your mind, and anyone who doesn’t agree with you is an extremist. That’s unfortunate; I was hoping to learn something from you.

I would welcome any discussion of "hot-headed Israelis". Please don't refrain on my account. I think that pandering (to one’s faith or otherwise) is most disrespectful.

Brian, name calling isn't cool. My views on, and experiences with, Islam might be different than yours but that doesn't make me ultra-biased and prejudiced. I could just as easily say that you are ultra-biased for Islam and that your prejudice doesn't allow you to see what I am saying, making you the difficult and hardheaded one--but where would that get us? Look, I even conceded that my understanding of true Islam could be flawed and started to refer to the aberration that is practiced throughout the Middle East by a new name.

I know that I was probably one of the ones who drove you out of the temp forum and that I was also less than kind to you on several occasions back then. My only excuse, feeble as it is, is that I was still new to the MURC in those days and hadn't learned the ropes, so to speak. I've been looking forward to one day having an opportunity to trade ideas with you again and I was hoping to learn something (and maybe even teach something). You've been exceedingly helpful to me in the DV forum on several occasions and truly I bear you no ill will. I won't deny that I find your Politics questionable.
