  • Cor, blimey is Cockney for an expression of surprise. The origin is probably God, blind me. The saying "from the sublime to the ridiculous" is often corrupted to "from the sublime to the cor, blimey" in colloquial speech, to add emphasis to the ridiculous situation (such as this thread).

Of course, you have to know English to understand this, so I apologise to you non-English speakers who query the expression

I get the joke, and know it well. I was just being facetious.

Ironic... I didn't see a smiley on your post and I forgot to put a smiley on mine.

So you're surprised that a thread discussion on this forum has proved to be ridiculous? That's ironic too!

            • Speaking of Russel, I still think this is a nice line by him:
If I were asked to prove that Zeus and Poseidon and Hera and the rest of the Olympians do not exist, I should be at a loss to find conclusive arguments.
I actually had to laugh when I first read it. It still makes me smile.

The Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.

              • Allright, another thing: does it really states that bats are birds and insects have four legs?
