Even those three additions are completely tame compared to the stuff they print about the West in their papers on a DAILY basis.

If you come out and say they are the enemy after they STAB YOU IN THE BACK like this, this is what happens to you in "enlightened" countries like France..

Check the campuses.. To be accepted into Canada, you just have to destroy your paper on the way and proclaim yourself a fugitive upon arrival. Some (ex?)-terrorists found themselves a new life and home in Canada this way.
Now, they're VERY active in campuses, spreading their anti-israeli & anti-anything related to Israel views.

Ok, well I know ALL about that. I thought you might be referring to something more specific.

Yeah, University campuses are crazy these days. Liking Israel just won't get you laid any more.

Hey TX, How many of those Danish products are actually available in Israel.

I just read something that suggested that many of those brands that were so well placed in the Arab Middle East likely would have had to make a deal where they agreed not to sell products in Israel.

If that's true, **** them. If that's wrong, I want to know because I'll buy twice as much cheese as normal.

              Heh. Thats wrong.

Arla sells a great deal of products in Israel as well. Same goes for the rest of the exporters.

They do market differently, and the products arent exactely the same (different markets, different needs).

Ok, so what I read was wrong.

I'm going to make a big Danish Havarti sandwich for lunch tomorrow.

It seems that the french newspaper France Soir is printing the 12 cartoons in todays edition.

I haven't found any news on this in english, but here is one in danish: http://politiken.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?PageID=434156

It basically states that a french newspaper has approached the danish journalist union (the 12 cartoonists has the rights to the drawings but any agreement to print them goea via the danish journalist union).

The chief editor for Jyllands-Posten, thinks that the french papers decision to print the cartoons is brave. He is then asked if he thinks it's stupid; his answer is: "No. As far as he knows, there is freedom of speech in France, like he thought there was in Denmark."

EDIT: Also german paper Die Welt is printing some of the cartoons, so is icelandic paper D.V.

                        Let Freedom Ring!

French Daily Publishes Prophet Mohammed's Cartoons
The caricatures portraying Prophet Mohammed published in the Danish press receiving widespread reaction from the Islamic World have also published in the French daily newspaper, France Soir.

The statement released by France Soir reads they published the cartoons as a provocation.

The caricatures may seem to be unimportant, insulting or they may even seem to have an important meaning, but their publication has tested the boundaries of freedom of speech in Denmark and angered the Muslim World, the France Soir statement further reads.

The same statement backed not to existence of any expressions against any racist intention and any society. “No, we will never apologize as we are sorry while we are talking and thinking. We will never apologize for being free to speak and think,” while reminding that it does not support expressions of hatred and racism.
I can't believe that the French are doing this. I wonder if an American paper would be so brave...

                          From the HNN link:
In any event, if it does go against the law, the answer is simple: Change the law. Follow the British example: Outlaw religious hatred. Once Prime Minister Tony Blair gets a new religious hatred bill through Parliament, it will be a criminal offense in the UK to publish cartoons like the Danish ones.
There's a reason why Parliment shot down Blair's bill. When you start taking away freedom of speech to appease one group, you have to start taking it away to appease ALL of the groups. By the time all is said and done you no longer have freedom of speech anymore.

It's a tough issue to combat. How do you stop people from spreading hatred without infringing on freedoms. *shrug* figure out a way to educate them I guess.

The world is going to hell in a $#!*storm

The major ones ... not a chance. Maybe some of the smaller ones. I don't think enough of the major US paper feel enough of an affinity towards our European brothers anymore to risk backing them up by publishing the drawings.

Freedom of the Press and Free Speech are such major issues in American journalism that by default the American Press is shamed by their non-action on this issue.
