    Hi Brandin,

Can you tell me if you see those green flashes with all the TV stations or certain ones only?

    Thanks,
    Elie

Don't know what all's been said, but mine flashes green when it's been up for awhile and starts to get cranky during disk access. Restarting takes care of it until it gets cranky again.

        Hi,

Could someone post a screen shot of these green lines?

        brendin,

If it turns out that the card is defective, then it can be RMAed. As far as cross shipments go, this is something that has to be arranged with RMA. Tech Support can only process the RMA.

A screenshot? This is not easy. I think it would be nearly impossible, to take the shot at the right moment. I will try to record it with my VCR and the do a sreenshot, but it may take a while.

BTW: how to post a picture???

Very interesting.... I recorded some stripes with my VCR and then captured this recording. So I have now an AVI with some lines flashing. Then I used DDClip Pro to find a frame with such a flashing. When setting the mark on this frame I see the line flickering on my TV. But: it seems to be white now and it is visible for about a second. The the TV gets black. I can repeat this as often I want to.
So i tried this programm with the blue screens, ehm, what's its name? Premiere! I did the same as with DDClip Pro, and again the line is white and only for a short while visible. But I did save this single frame, and the line is visible.

But again: how can I post the image???

Yes - I looked at it already, but it seems that you can only make a kind of link to a image somewhere in the web. But it is on my HDD and I want to post it. Is this possible? If necessary I will upload the image somewhere, but this will be some additional work.

RBryant: It is not necessary to play a file, so the format can't be the source of the problem.

Ellie: I see these lines with all stations and with no tuned signal, too. Espacially I can choose the S-VHS In, wich is not connected, and see these lines.

Fluggo99: This should be another Problem. Perhaps you have not enough HDD performance.

                              Hi everyone!

What I’m about to say may be complete nonsense, but could this be a DirectX 7 problem?

The reason I say this is… I’m running a Mystique220/RRS and installed DX7 a couple of weeks ago and ever since then video playback has become very hit and miss.

From the MSP5.2 timeline, playback’s OK for about 5 minutes the screen will then flash (more a full screen flash and not necessarily green) and I’ll get the “evil frame” jitter, then a few minutes later the screen will flash again and everything will be OK. I’ve only had this “flashing” problem since installing DX7! Although the evil frames have always been there and I know are a problem with the RRS.

I’m going to do a complete reinstall of Win 98se in a couple of days, if you want I’ll report back.

                              Regards,

                              Nick.

I to am experiencing the same green line problem, and find it very distressing. I have spent some time trying to isolate the problem. In the end I found a workaround. Before I get to that, let me describe my system, and my saga.

I have a dual boot pc which boots Win98 and WinNT from the same DMA/33 hard drive. The G400 drives a digital flat panel monitor, so I can't use any of the TV options. Also, the monitor get's driven off of the 2nd feature port of the card, (that's how it's designed).

When I run the card on WinNT everything works fine. No green lines, and I can capture video just fine. The only problem is WinNT can't get the same data rates off of the disk as Win98 can (Win98 seems to handle DMA/33 better). Thus I don't really want to use WinNT. Besides I had already made the decision that I was going to do all of my video editing in Win98. The WinNT side I use primarilly for work.

Running Win98, when I bring up the capture window in PC-VCR, the live window exhibits these green lines. The green lines also end up on the captured video. I am not sure if it inserts extra ones on playback. Overall my experiences are very similar to brendin's description of the problem. I tried all of the mentioned tweaks short of re-installing Win98 (NO WAY!). The only discovery I made was that if I set the live capture window to Full Screen the green line's problem goes away. I am not sure if this will work for everyone as this may just be a side effect of the flat panel or some other configuration issue, but it's worth a try. I am also not sure if I will get as good a video capture in full screen mode as opposed to the other modes (uses more system resources?).

The only problem left to resolve is that everytime I try to play a captured MJPEG clip, the computer locks up. RGB works fine. But this is a completly seperate issue, and a separate thread.

                                Hope this helps.

                                SJ
