When it works fine on all browsers except one I think that points to a problem with that browser. Your statement is absolutely rediculous. The code as you put it here is all generated by the vBulletin software, looking at their forums there are known to be Opera issues but these are down to Opera not the coding. "Fixing" or disabling something just to get a browser that has an inherent fault to work is not any sort of fix. I use IE and Mozilla on Windows and Mozilla/Galeon under Linux and don't have these problems. I suggest you run along to the Opera people and ask them to get things fixed. If you don't like the problem then I suggest you use a different browser or live with it's problems. Use of Opera on these forums makes up less than 0.8% only slightly more than use of Lynx a text based browser, I hardly call that one of the most common browsers.
Originally posted by ralf There´s Javascript in Beyond3D:s code too, and still it gives no problem.
I think murc is badly coded. It should be a minimum requirement to see to it that at least the most common browsers work without troubles with your site.
If the code is kept within the W3C standard Opera will work.
I'm just sad that my favourite browser won't display my favourite website right..
Ant, I'm sure it's not your fault, but MAY it be it's burst's fault? I THINK it all started when you moved there, am not sure though. Can you tell us anything about the hosting status of MURC to date?
Calm down, Ant, Ralf is just a little rude sometimes.
I can live with the problem, though it's annoying me - but it won't keep me from visiting the MURC every day
Oh, and I'll go over to Opera tech support and complain to them tomorrow or so
Well, fact is that several other vBulletin boards work perfectly with Opera, like Rage3D, nvnews, Hardforums with vBulletin versions ranging from 2.2.4 to 2.2.6.
So, obviously the problems are not related to the vBulletin code, but rather something on the server side. I haven´t seen these problems on any other forum, whether they´re using vBulletin or any other board software.
And since a lot of us Opera users are having troubles with murc, it indicates that the problems are not related to a certain pc system setup, nor depending on the use of a certain firewall or the like, since we know for certain that practically every setup involved is unique.
Hello,
I have browsed around the boards a little without seeing this (using 6.04) so I'll ask you for a few more details. First of all, since it seems that you have discussed this with other users, could you point me to the discussion where it has been verified by others? Secondly, does it happen if you do any of these setup changes:
1) change to User Mode ([Ctrl+G])?
2) turn images off completely?
3) disable "Preferences / Privacy / Automatic redirection"?
As I haven't had the problem since I got the answer, I can't try the solutions yet, but I thought maybe others here would like to hear them, and try them out themselves - please post your results
I am using 6.04, downloaded yesterday. The forums were reloading like crazy just now. I just turned off automatic redirection and it seemed to load properly. Will continue to test.
