Judging from the 'falling just behind a GTS' part the clock speed should be around 166-200 MHz, which would give the card a fill rate of 666-800 Mtexels.
A G400 has 250 Mtexels, G400Max 300 Mtexels.
This card will be very fast compared to our G400's.

It looks like Matrox wants release chip and card at the same time. maybe they also try get those cards out ASAP after release ( means that they aren't doing same mistake as with G400Max which had huge delays in delivery.)
maybe they have those boards in production already... or behaps not... who knows...

Yeah, we had this Gxxx is coming in *insert next two or three months from now on* since over a year now....
BTW, rumor has it that the new Matrox card will be called G550 and not G800 since there are trademark issues with the "G800" name (there's already a monitor model and the roland synthesizer with this name) and not because M thinks it's not as powerfull as a "G800" should be.
