            well,

with another words. for me a card without those features will not a good card. It's not like T&L you can't bypass them. FSAA too.

Don't have to ask matrox do know that.

I found this article very believable (for a change). The G800 architecture followed pretty much what many of us (myself included) predicted early on. Many users and developers have gotten an education on T&L requirements in recent months. I don't think the market for T&L was quite there yet and the requirements have changed in the meanwhile. AFA "We will be kings of 3D again" ... I think that's a bit arrogant and perhaps naive to predict how Matrox will compare against the competition a full year from now. I'm looking forward to seeing G550 vs. G400 Max benchmarks soon.

Arrogant, maybe. But I take this as a good sign. It means that Matrox is going to be competitive in the gamers' market!

                  Hey guys,
We all want a brand-new super-fast Matrox card, but don't forget that this is not Matrox main concern; Matrox focuses on the cards that will bring cash in; Remember a few years ago: Tseng Labs, Trident (well, kinda), Cirrus Logic, 3Dfx and othersperish by trying only to make the all mighty and best of all 3D cards; why do you think ATI and NVIDIA managed to stay alive and extend they share of the market: OEMs. Don'T forget that NVIDIA is still producing TNT2 PRO and Vanta LT chips ATI is still making Rage pro and Rage 128. They are not expecting to make a lot of money off the GeForce 3 and the Radeon 2 right away; they only need to design and produce such cards to show investors and clients they have some new technology they can incorporate in future mainstream products; The G450 3D performance is NOWHERE that of a GeForce 3, yet its sales are very good; the G550 card WILL be a hit... same target as the G450 (OEM contracts) but with more than the double of the G450 performance... Take Chevrolet; it makes much more money off its Chevrolet line than off its Cadillac line... less expensive cars, but MUCH more are sold...

                  Only a few day...

                  Francis

Chevy/GM don't make squat from Jeep sales.

Mainly because Chrysler produces Jeep, not Chevy

                    Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

The product rumor is the Real Deal!

However some of the things he talks about future products and competitive positioning sounds like smoke out of a drunken b---!

The thing that makes me make mad is that some sauced new marketing rep. sloshes news and compromises NDAs and product releases. I wonder how long said rep will continued to be employeed.

It will be interesting to find out the reps name and see if he is around in june

I think if the G550 is indeed about to ship, now is the time for Matrox to start talking about the product. I think this is all legit and sanctioned.

i have bought today a new card an I740 for 10 euros (the card is really new but to long to explain)

Now i have to say NO (my god, it has broke my heard) to a 80 euros g400max, because i'm hopping on a new product from matrox soon.

Let's see if i will miss this g400max and hate a little more Matrox

Blah Blah Blah.. just rumors as far as I'm concerned..
Call me cynical, but I have no reason to believe anything until Matrox actually starts _shipping_ the 'new' card.
And it sounds like its another 'wait till next year' for an actual powerful solution.. which means more like end of 2002.
