will there be an eTV version of that card?

anyone wanny buy my slightly used 8500 AIW.

now i have to think really hard about sending it back while i can, got it two days ago, which leaves me about 1 1/2 weeks to send it back and get my money back without problems.

hey vigil ant, you should have posted that earlier

but hey, maybe thats finally a reason to build a second system

As much as we all would like to see this become reality, I think it's rather unfair to Matrox Graphics (the company) to build up these high expectations.
It would be sensational if only half of that is true.

      Sorry, still doubting...

        I agree with Frank_Hart here.
Besides, if my gf finds I spent >300$ on a computer accessory, I'm toast.

If it's true, once the price is resonable I'd better get ready for buying a whole new computer...

Would you like that with or without garlic?

Don't expect to see an eTV version.

Expect the range to cost from $300 to $1000 or maybe more.

Do realise that there is still time for Matrox to have a little accident, remember the G800!

            Anyone going to E3?

I hope the price won't be too horrifying. I remember that the original Millennium was actually extremely expensive for normal users. It would surely be the best again, if it is comparable with M Millennium. But if it costs 1000$, which is absolutely not unthinkable, I still can¡¯t buy it!

                  4. It is fast. It will be an all new chip. It will not be 256 bit and will not be 128 bit. Expect clock speeds around 300 Mhz. Also expect varied product offerings from this core after the initial products are released.
Notice he talks about the chip, not the memory bus.
The G400 was already 256 bit internally.

I paid for my Millenium (2MB Wram) 470$ back then...
If the new card will cost >600$, I hope it works well with my brand new 486DX66 cause I won't be able to afford myself too mych for my "new" computer.

Damn, it'll be like putting a V12 Lamborgini engine on a tricycle

from what i understand, only the most expenisve version of the parhelia (IF THERE IS SUCH A THING ) will cost 1000$, and it probably isnt worth it for home users.

wasn't it dual bus though, creating 2 128 bit channels???

oh yeah, this news has me really excited, i would love for matrox to be top of the pile again
i wonder how long it will take this to get on other news sites eg nvnews. might have them interested

/edit/ i hope matrox do not release it until the drivers are completely sorted, so there are no ati like scandals

                        is anyone going to gdc???

If the price is more than $400, it is absolutely a special function graphics adapter. Like MMS or Professional OpenGL.

For more than $250 to buy a game card, I have no idea who will buy it except to the hard-core gamer?

For the general-purposed Multi-function graphics adapter, the adequate price range is around $150~200 for the current graphics adapter component's price.

For the simple-purposed graphics adapter, the acceptable price range is around $80~100 with certain quality. Without any quality, it should be below $50. Otherwise, the OEM vendors might not be interested in it.

Yes, from what I've heard I might have to rethink my "no connection between BitBoys and Matrox" statements...

BTW I wasn't that surprised either, just very happy that what has been rumoured appears to be true. Let's hope that all goes well

ps. I already fear the invasion of the FANBOYS (even worse than myself) at MURC! If the thing is going to be expensive, the ones that can afford one are either

                              a) Hardware enthusiasts (geeks)
                              b) MURCers (they will sell their family and home to get one)
                              c) Daddy
