face it, the win9x core is dead. I think looking ahead is the right choice, especially for a card like this.

Great news to hear that FAA x16 really works. What is the requirements for enable FAA x16. Is it enabled within the game or is controlled in the drivers, so any game can use it?

All I heard this far is that a game that use stencil buffer can't use FAA x16, but are there any other restrictions?

true, they are looking ahead to xp but restricting sales to those of us who have not upgraded os...new machines are sold with xp and for those who must upgrade every time - they have gone to xp - i wonder what % of machines have remained with me, 98, or 95 ----do you think Matrox will support the earlier os in about a month or two ------when they supply the xp crowd first??...(although i am waiting for 256 on board)....

for those who have tried - is there a real reason to upgrade from a Matrox 400 32 with RR to the new board - i.e. can you SEE the difference ---from what i gather, the fps is much better - yes, no....and the movies look better -

you can see the difference between one candle and ten...
ten candles and 100 candles. etc.....where does this card come in when compared to the 400??...
          AMD1200, A7V. 400g Max, RR, 512mg sdram, Pioneer 10x DVD 104s(no soda holder), Creative DVD dr3, 18g ultra66, 6.4g ultra33, Atapi Zip & PP 100, SB Live Platinum, Cambridge Theatre 5.1, DTT2500 Digital, USB Broadband Blaster, Windows XPsp1

Fogel - you have the option to have FAA off always, on always, or on IF application requests.

I have mine set to always on, and have not had any problems with it at all.

I'd like to see a pic of...

....the back of the card, please.

...And you commented on 16X FSAA at 800x600. Have you tried it at 640X480? Does it blur?

I ask because my GF4 Ti4600 noticeably blurs, even at x2 FSAA.

Also, I'd like to know about anisotropic filtering...with the GF4 I run with AF turned on to 8x, both under D3d (where I force it on) and under OpenGL. AF looks fantastic, I think, and is far better than FSAA on the GF4, because there's little if any blurring that I can see.

The Parhelia is supposed to do "edge AA"--if so, it shouldn't blur at all, I would think. So when you say "FSAA" do you mean "full screen" or are you talking about "edge AA"...?

                          Thanks much for your info.

It's not FSAA, it FAA (Fragment AntiAliasing).

And you're right, it does only edges...no bluring of textures or menus.
