  • Before we all get caught up in the frenzy of a new Matrox release, we should all stop for a moment, and consider that there are more important things in life. Many more important things. Offhand I can't think of what they are, but I'm sure there must be something......

    • Cheesekeeper:

surely, it must be, the odor of the cheese, the age of the cheese, the tasting of the cheese, and last but not least, THE QUALITY OF THE CHEESE.

Now, there must be some quality cheese buyers out there, who will take the brunt of the market calculation, and buy enough Parhelia boards so as to offset the wait, and therefore, refinement of said board.

      • This is true - it is also worth noting that when conisours evaluate fine cheeses, they never discuss the frame-rate of the cheese. As any conisour knows, the quality of video is not strained. Man cannot live on frame-rates alone.

And, regarding the odor of the cheese, I shall paraphrase Roman Senator Valerius Vespasianus: "Parhelia non olet" - Parhelia doesn't smell...........

Example I am still using A G100 AGP 8 meg card at my work and it is running fine and in good working order and that is becuase matrox uses quality in all there products....

                    • This is my first post in these forums and its been a long time since I've actively used a Matrox product. My first was the Millenium 1
w/ 2MB WRAM on my old Pentium 150Mhz.
(Its now in my Firewall PC)

Anyhow, the Parhelia seems to be a good excuse to go back to
using a Matrox product. I'm waiting for the high-end model...
256MB version. I plan to install it in my Dual PIII 1Ghz
Workstation. (CAD, Engineering Apps, watching DVD and video)

                      I'm just wondering...

If an LCD had only the standard VGA connection (not DVI), such
as a low-end Hercules ProphetView 720 (15inch LCD), can you
still use that "triple head" (or Surround gaming) feature?

                      • stmok, from my understanding of the card yes you can. You can use only one DVI in surround gaming, and the other two would have to be VGA. however luck fellas like me with a large desk can have 3 19" CRT's with no problem, plus they are cheapier.

I remember the old site, but never used the forums till they were the UBB at this url. Wasn't the old forum still up on gagames.com until recently?

Does anyone still have the old site saved in their cache? Gotta love the big header image

Alas, the internet is not an easy workfield for a historican; most things are only there for the moment. It would be quite hard (if not impossible) to find a cache of the old sites as of now.

                              • Fenrir(AVA), yeah, you're right about the LCD prices compared to
CRT...But LCDs don't burn as much power as their CRT cousins...

I think its more economical just to get 3x 17inch Sony E230
monitors. (There's no room for any sizes bigger on my "work"
desk at home. I took out a tape measure and did a quick check.)
