The G400 had the best Linux support of the Gxxx cards. After that, it went downhill steadily. Same driver base or not, Matrox just let things decline.

Who bought Parhelia??

I would also be one of those that are under "waiting for linux support" because well, I want 3d in linux. Well, that and I want to see what other options there are in graphics cards across all manufacturers product lines. I will most likely buy the card that gives the best feature/linux support ratio. My Computer-
CPU:AMD Athlon XP 1600+
MB/RAM:Abit AT7 / 256 266mhz DDR
HDD: 14 GB Maxtor/8 GB Western Digital

Pre-ordered then cancelled after seeing its benchmarks. Sorry but £330 for the card was abit too much to swallow. For now I have just bought a TI4200. I will wait and see what improvements are made to Parhelia or take a look at the R300.

I guess there should've been more no options
I am actually waiting to see the 256MB version - but I am not saving up though ( don't have anything to save from right now anyway ).
I'm very happy with my G400 - I don't game too much, and the games I do play don't require more than what my G400 can offer ( counterstrike and warcraft3 for instance ).
Those things considered I doubt it would be worth getting a Parhelia for me right now - only 1 point speak in its favour, the 10bit dvd decoder & tv-out.
So the question remains - is the TV out noticeably better on the Parhelia than the G400 series ?

I don't know about Australia, but in the US a Ti4600 is hard to find for less than $275, but you can get 128MB Ti4200s for under $150.

Not even your European Online Shop has one in stock, but instead they only offer a pre-order ...
Any feedback on this ?

Forgot to ask about the hefty price tag that German dealers seem to add on your suggested street price, now that US-$ is about equal to the € (euro), I simply cannot understand why they add 25% on your ESP (399$ vs. 499€)
You're not targetting the Macintosh market, are you ?

also, the price seems to be better than the online stores I visited yesterday ... nice surprise, although it's still ~10% above ESP for US.
Aynways, I guess I'll have to order one now ...
Thanx for the note, Chuck !!!

I'm in the same boat as Maggi but in Indiana. Not a single unit to be seen here yet. I am going down to the stores again today to look. I have a TI4600 now but I can't wait to have a gameable Matrox card back in my machine. I sorely miss the quality and desktop od Matrox cards and I love the DM and surround gaming features. The 4600 doesn't really have any features that trip my trigger the way those features do. Playable framerates are all I need and could care less about 3dmark, I want eye candy.

The_King. I'm from Australia and I fully know the the price difference there.
Plenty of displays here havn't seen any boxes but apperently I can buy, I'm just not going to pay a 25% premium or more on the USD price. (even greater seeing as some online shops are selling the retail box for $360USD + shipping or so).
Sales on the customer feedback side, the only things i heard from average punters looking at it here were.
1)'sugoii' - fantastic
2)'chotto takai' - depending on tone meaning ranging from 'damn thats sorta expensive' to 'Dream on M, I'm going to spend my money on good hentai instead'Juu nin to iro
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

good and bad news ...
good:
I just ordered a Parhelia on Matrox' Shop
bad:
the price is still above ESP, because I forgot to add VAT ...
Including shipping and VAT it's now as expensive as 540.61€, which is quite a bit above the originally suggested 399,- US-$ and I can surely understand any homeuser feeling ripped off in that price dimension.
Say, Soupy ... how come the price over here in Europe is so much higher than in the USofA ?
