VigilAnt made the comparison of G200 to G400 and Parhelia to Parhelia 2/X. Looks like the first indication that they have the update in progress.

And, a warning for VigilAnt - you'd better not let your standards slip, I trust you 100% for insider info

      AMEN!

And here's mine for Haig too!

Now here's the first thing that comes to mind about all this for me. As was mentioned, a board revision seems to be heading somewhere at the typical Matrox soon(tm) ("It would seem they are readying not only revisions of the Parhelia which could be due out not too far from now..."), I am wondering if anyone knows if this horizontal flickering thing will become an RMA'able issue, or if it is still "the way it's supposed to be" (or however they had stated that over at Matrox).

I am NOT one who is afflicted by this problem and I happen to love my Parhelia as well.

It is quite ovous right now becuase the market is low and there cards are high priced and they can't compete against the the new ATI and NVidia cards... I too myself want a Matrox card but for 322 dollars compaired to a 100 dollar card that can do dual display and that is all I need and if they can do certain things they really need to focous on making a 250 dollar card that is better than the Parhelia and it dose the same + more other wise the market will not buy there cards asmuch as they want them to.. I just hope that they can fix the problems with overlay with the hauappauge cards if they do they will have that going for them and they can co-market with Hauappauge and includ that in there statments... I know that they are hard at work at this though... I am rooting for Matrox b/c I do think that they have a better product than other competitors it is just that they need to redefine them and really look at there company and see how can they make money in are market and that is to produce a 3d card that competes againts the NV30 and 9700 pro. That would mean more R & D though investments and also more money and they would have to be the farm .. .SO, Who knows mabey the need to go public as a company .. It is a very good question or they need to find a partner or something that they can start producing cards that they can market for everyone.

I'm very satisfied with my PArhelia, but I'ts easy to see that the 220Mhz of my chip is the maximum posible speed. If MAtrox can optimilize the Parhelia, they might hava a winner!

But wrong decitions have killed several companys. Hope MAtrox can sort this problem out ASAP....

Wow Ant, talk about kicking ass and taking names! I never really thought I'd see something posted like that on the front of this site. Although I've had a feeling for a long time it may come to this. Kinda reminds me of the fall of 2000 when 3DFx was fumbling and in serious trouble. Big promises and then big disappointment always lead to this. I really hope they can pick up their game and come out guns blazing.

              the Parhelia isn't that bad.

anyway great news, but I hope the next generation card won't be release before summer 2003

              Because the Parhelia wasn't cheap

yeah, thats my biggest fear... i drop almost $400 down on a product that has manufacturing problems for it to be made obsolete by the company within a year of its release... bleh...

i expect that out of NVidia or ATI, but not Matrox...

That was kind of why I was wondering about the RMA thing. Because if the revision A boards (or whatever they're called) are plagued with the wrong speed problems and the flickering problems and what I had thought to be driver limiting problems of the FAA but maybe not (and by all means tell me if I'm talkin out of my ass ) then are those of us with the original boards going to be able to RMA them for corrected versions?

That make sense? I'm confused with everything right now cause I've got an exam in about 2 1/2 hours so hopefully it makes sense...

Staying on the bleeding edge does have its disadvantages. Although I would not call something "obsolete" just because something newer has been released. I'm still running my trusty G400 DH 16meg, which is still widely supported and runs lots of apps/games just fine. The Matrox Mystique on the other hand - is obsolete

I doubt it. Matrox has already told us that the flickering is "normal." I bet they think that people will "stop whining and go away" soon. I wouldn't prove them right if I were you.

yeah... it might be in our best interest for everyone who is experiencing that problem to send emails to customer service complaining... i dunno if it will do anything, but if they see that there are a lot of people out there that are not pleased about it, it might get them off their asses a bit... dunno...

                            Yes. Haig for president!!!

If the matrox wants to be truly competitive NOW, it must move fastly and skillfully. One new video card would have to catch up an important goal: to earn the confidence of the customers, also that one of the anchor gamers.

Matrox must pull out, announcement, rumors, photo, spec. It does not matter if it is not a public company like Nvidia or Ati. The Matrox shareolders, in this case, are the customers. This is the last time that i give a change to a Matrox card. If the Matrox fails, my next video card will be an Nvidia or PowerVr series card.

You mean 66 replies and about 15 peeps bitching about in their official tech support forum isn't enough?
