at first, for those that feel they have made a bad deal:
here's test that shows, how much drivers have been improved. That test also shows that Parhelia IS able to reach those speeds that was speculated before the launch. (I have made a nice sheet about percentage win/loses against Ti4600, but it's in finnish so you have to wait some time until I'll got it translated.
(damn I WANT that thing.) "
I want to make it clear that I am not bashing Parhelia, I think it's an alright card and has a lot going for it, but if you realized what Matrox had aimed for when beginning the project, you would see that this product really missed the mark. The powers that be left a lot to be desired from what was intended originally.

"Next, two things. as I have been stating on crystal ball and as VigilAnt said too, there's two projects going on at Matrox. First one is the new revision. For new revision, I would say that improvment list is pretty impressive to be a just a revision. Still it will be a just new revision, so don't get your hopes up too high. (and as they say, nice suprise is better than worst disapointment.)"
Improvement list? The only card that would have the improvements would be the 256 version of the Parhelia, and it's put on hold (Accurate as of two days ago). The only other revision is the 64 MB version, and it's a G450 waiting to happen. It's going to be overpriced, underperforming, and under featured.

But I am pretty sure that New Revision of parhelia will be enough to Matrox survive spring and early summer time, if they can just price it nicely and get it out for holiday season. I have no doubts that they would be trying to be fastest with that, but more likely to be get a nice piece from Mainstream cake."
The way things look, it will be a miracle if Matrox survives at all.

Sorry to disappoint, but I fully expected many would be.

i just hope they can get the problems that the parhelia has fixed... it is a wonderful card, but the few problems that it has are fairly glaring as they reak of manufacturing/design problems...
VigilAnt - thank you for being blunt... i think that is just the sort of thing that needs to happen in order for good to come from this..."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? They finally put a god damned shell back in." -jwz

I think that Matrox can survive some difficult moment with these more stable divisions.

IMHO, Matrox is not dead yet. Don't forget their 2 other divisions: Video and Imaging.

P.S. Your location says Montreal...is that accurate?
