like i said earlier, i don't believe the rest of the company takes tech support seriously. i was told by customer support that an official response would be given to Haig almost a month ago, and if i have learned anything from the TS forums, its that Haig is a straight shooter... i believe if he was acctually given an official stance to give to us he would have done it.

I was also advised by the customer service staff not to use D3D apps in a window because of it

make other departments feel the pressure and maybe something will change.

One major problem they have at Matrox is that ATI and espescially nVidia love to send job offers to key employees in the development of a product. And as these companies are public and much richer, they can afford to pay much higher salaries.

Take away a project manager right in the middle of the development cycle, it's critical.

I hope the other parts of Matrox will be able to keep Matrox Graphics alive for some time. I would REALLY be pissed off to see Matrox shut down. It's a very important company here in Montreal, and it's a unique company in the graphics world.

I really hope things turn around!

OK - someone put together a generic mail outlining our complain about a general lack of effort/response about the problem. Then we all send it to Matrox.

Anyone know a good lawyer to write it for some extra clout?

generic mails go straight to /dev/null - send a personal mail.

Well the problem is that some of Management at Matrox Graphics is a major part of the problems that they have (as stated in the article). Also Matrox Corp will be around for a long time, just that the Graphics division might not be unless some changes are made soon.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

There are two reasons as why IMHO Matrox could be shrinking :

                - the desktop video market is going for integrated chipsets because that is what people need : a sufficiantly performing graphics adapter that can get away with business needs and non-gaming (remember some gamers are now on XBox/Playstation/Gamecube instead of playing on a PC)

                - video editing is going increasingly software, with pseudo realtime on fast CPUs, hence the newly released cards (X...) -even at a competitive price tag- will not be sold in megaton quantities.

Too bad, because despite some glitches with capture drivers, Matrox delivers good beasts that live long (My Mill2 bought in Dec97 is still used to write this) and are of excellent visual quality.

The powers that be at Matrox are likely to ignore e-mails, or posts on their forums. If, on the other hand, THG, Sharky, or somebody else started paying attention to it.....

It would be cool if the Improved FAA could be used on the current Parhelia, but it depends on how they improved it.

okay, here comes my cookies to basket...

at first, for those that feel they have made a bad deal:

here's test that shows, how much drivers have been improved. That test also shows that Parhelia IS able to reach those speeds that was speculated before the launch. (I have made a nice sheet about percentage win/loses against Ti4600, but it's in finnish so you have to wait some time until I'll got it translated.
                        (damn I WANT that thing.)

Next, two things. as I have been stating on crystal ball and as VigilAnt said too, there's two projects going on at Matrox. First one is the new revision. For new revision, I would say that improvment list is pretty impressive to be a just a revision. Still it will be a just new revision, so don't get your hopes up too high. (and as they say, nice suprise is better than worst disapointment.)

second one is something that I really don't know much about it. (fact ends here. ---> follows a speculation.)
But I am pretty sure that New Revision of parhelia will be enough to Matrox survive spring and early summer time, if they can just price it nicely and get it out for holiday season. I have no doubts that they would be trying to be fastest with that, but more likely to be get a nice piece from Mainstream cake.

I was going to run the flickering errata as a story on TR, but wanted to wait until Haig had given some sort of response.

If you are all feeling that itchy, I'll go ahead and do it. Once it's up it will spread like wildfire.

Was refering to the "Matrox Parhelia (GPU: 217MHz | MEM: 542MHz) klo 15:22" one! Just woundering if you are someone I should get to know or maybe already know since I work in the computer buisness (build and repair computers in Porvoo)! Do you btw know "Sampsa"? Since I definetly think I should contact him in the near future to send him some stuff to test!
