Maybe those divisions will help Matrox Graphics invest in their future projects.

By the way, I have a P in my rig at work with 3 CRT 17" and it really Rocks.

P.S. Your location says Montreal...is that accurate?
    Absolutely: Montreal, Qc, Canada!

Another thing I have noticed and that really troubles me about Matrox is the way the different divisions are handled. They appear "isolated" from each other, if you know what I mean, and this could also potentially be a big problem.

And unless Matrox soon releases a kick-ass™ product that shows that they still have what it takes to design and manufacture a product that thwarts the competition, they will not make it much further in the graphics card business. And I am afraid Matrox is not capable of that anymore, and hasn't been for quite a while.

Another proud Montrealer here and ex-intern at Matrox!!

Vigilant, do you know if they'll include occlusion culling in their revision?

Spam? Anyways this whole thread should belong in the crystal ball or are your post official statments from Matrox?

Anyways I agree with you that we were off topic!
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

Not official, but it's not exactly speculation either. This is news related to Matrox and has appeared on MURC's front page as such. It is very much an editorial done by the MURC staff with regards to Matrox in their current state. I feel this does not fit the Crystal Ball forum very well.

To answer your "Spam?" question, I feel that when you mass post messages to a destination that are neither wanted nor on topic, it is generally regarded as spam. No offense intended.

that is true, and i would prefer that sort of thing to wait until Haig and the technical support staff get a chance to respond...

but, then i realize that Matrox Graphics has been publicly aware of this issue for a little bit over a month now and has so far not made any sort of statement on the problem, despite acknowledging that it exists. granted, finding that problem sounds like one of those fun things to do.... but, considering some of the responses from the tech support staff tend to hint towards Matrox knowing what the problem is... i dunno, hard call...

from my experiences around here and around the TS forums, i believe Haig and the TS staff would have given us an answer if they were given one or were allowed to, so i can pretty much only assume that the problem with not getting a response comes from another part of the company... management or customer support...

as long as the blame doesn't wind up falling on them, as they have done their jobs excellently. its just they are, to many, the face of Matrox.

dunno what to say, i always believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt... but considering the problems that are existing it might be wise not to in this case....

I was going to run the same thing over at DH, but again I'm waiting on Haig to get back to us.

But he's been "investigating" for far too long now. C'mon Haig - tell us. Being quiet is just admitting to an unfixable hardware problem anyways.

This is a huge problem, I think the lack of proper communication at Matrox is causing serious trouble. (Not only between divisions, but within divisions as well)

It seems matrox may have hit the Urban speed ramps of their graphics card world.....

I was thinking that too, this is how they get twice the speed

Another improvement would be one of these
                        - each texture unit can do 1 texture trilinear (instead of bilinear)
                        - each texture unit can handle 2 textures instead of one
                        - there is a texture loopback

or internal real 40 bit colors
Hey! You're talking to me all wrong! It's the wrong tone! Do it again...and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron

                              Maybe its something like here...
Petty internal fights in between directors in the different divisions.
("Its HIS fault, not mine, look what i found out...")
They spend so much time trying to make the others look bad, that their usual workload isn't done properly, or even worse, outsourced to someone below...
The output is really bad production, and the cycle continues with the extra problems caused by the previous bickering,....and it just never stops until you get rid of the people in question, and replace them with responsible people. Who arn't afraid to take the flak from time to time. And work on it.
BTW, i will not say where i work.
