Oh! NO! Voodoo4 due in October?

Seems to me that someone in the tread needs to just buy a Savage4 and be done with it. You know who you are.

Myself, I buy new HW when I think it is worth it, it is a hobby for me and I´m ready to spend a lot of money on my computer, and I know that most things gets outdated in 6 months and I dont say anything about that.

But when I pay for something, it should be a lot better than the stuff I already have, and if I see that something better is coming in a couple of month I can wait, and use my old stuff a little bit longer.

To day a have a V2 and a g200, and i´m happy with my G200, the V2 I have left only to be able to play ZELDA 64 and other N64 games. (Alrite, I know about Glidewrappers, but I dont bother to care about that)

However, my G200 seems to be a little slow with the newest games in good resolution, so I would like a new card, and I would really like that dualhead b´cuz I watch a lot of DVD-movies and it is a pain to change the graphics to 50 hx etc. everytime I want output to my 33" TV.

So..g400 or wait for something else in the future?? Maybe G400, maybe not..it depends..we´ll see what happens....

I hope dualhead becomes standard of all new gfx-cards, or at least some more expensive modell of these cards...

You do know that a good marketing tactic to prevent consumers from buying a new product from a competitor is to TALK BIG about your newer product ABOUT TO COME OUT!!!!!! If the tales and rumors of newer revolutionary innovations to the videocard market keep you from buying the current chip then 1: you will always be waiting and 2: you have just fallen into the marketing trap voodoo and nvidia set there just for people like you who will buy into their hype.
I do not intend to offend or insult Marketing ploys are everywhere and as consumers(targets of these ploys) we must be ready to defend our best interest. I look at g400 and see great Quality 2D a 3D engine that performs well enough to play current and upcoming titles dualhead technology that allows me to run two displays at different settings (tv out is way cool) quality tech/driver support a long solid company bacround etc. I could go on but the point is find out what you are looking for in the hardware and buy what's available within your timeframe I truly believe the MAX will be retail in 2 months when i will buy it I don't know when other stuff will be out but that's when i want my hardware if there is any real competition i will decide then.

Be a Careful consumer not a victim caught in a trap.

I am told by my distributor that Matrox will ship the G400 Max to Hong Kong by Mid August. This means probably another 2 weeks or so. I will be using my G400 Max very soon.

Again I never said that G400 Max is shitty in any way. I believe it is the best in the market at the moment. I am only pissed with Matrox for delaying a product for a very long time.

Another thing that I must point out is that the next generation chips (NV10 or Voodoo4) will be faster than the G400 Max. I don't know if they will have bump mapping for sure and if they will have dual head. They will be faster because there is no way NVidia and 3DFX will release a card slower than the ones they have in the market now.

Ok! If you say they will not release this year then fine! Lets leave it to that because I am not going to force you to believe what I do.
But lets say if they do release this year, then do you think that those who are planning on buying the G400 Max or may be those who are still waiting for their G400 Max will be happy about the fact that a faster card is going to release very soon.

Again, I just want to say that lets just forget about the whole thing. I belive that the G400 Max is good and I will enjoy using it when I get it but then I also believe that NV10 and Voodoo4 will release very soon.

I am not forcing anyone to believe me so lets stop the discussion. Why don't you send an e-mail to those who are posting that the NV10 and Voodoo4 are going to release this year?

Earlier this month, I cancelled my order and bought a TNT2Ultra.

I got tired of the hollow promises. I'm glad I did too. The company I ordered from www.mwave.com couldn't give me a release date. Oh, they were happy to take my money, but they couldn't say when to expect the card. They would say as soon as we get some cards in, you're on top of the list. "Check's in the mail" -Ever heard that one?

What's the moral of this story? Don't pre-order. If it can't be fed-ex'd to you the day you order it, it isn't even worth thinking twice about it.

You really can't blame Matrox. They were really quite clever. They saw market share diappearing to Nvidia and 3dfx. What'd they do? Announce a stellar product of course. However, they took it another step. To convince people to buy their product, they began taking orders. Logically, if they're taking orders it must be ready to ship right? Right!? Wrong!

In the end the only people that got screwed were the consumers.

Once bitten, twice shy. I won't make the same mistake again. I suggest you learn from this too.

I just read that 3dfx indeed claims that Voodoo 4 will hit the shelves in October. The worst case scenario seems to be by the end of the year.

I'll post more of this, with some screenhots to General Hardware section.
