    T-Buffer this mo-forker!

Let's face it folks, none of us are happy, we all wanna sook about the cards we have and those we don't. V3 is 3dfx, G400 is Matrox, nothing has changed, they're both flawed, so stop with the goddamn whinging! Unless you're gonna be funny about it, or ask serious questions I suggest you shut the **** up and use the card for what it can do instead of whinging about what it can't.

          Hi!

Looks like I managed to get a lot of attention here.

          Wow!

          My aim has been achieved.

Ok! Let me apologize to those who got offended by my posting.

Once again, I am only pissed with Matrox for their delays. They didn't even allow customers in Asia to order online. Why not?
Anyway, let just stop all this. I don't really care that Voodoo4 and NV10 releases soon. Why? Because I will get them anyway. My point is that my G400 Max didn't arrive yet and already there have been talks that the NV10 and voodoo4 will be released this year.

Obviously anyone in my position will be concerned.

          Thanks!

          Regards,
          Manoj Mahtani

Unless the NV has dual head who cares? I sure dont. If i wanted a standard gamers card i'd get the TNT2 but they suck as far as new features go. Dual Head is something that even at its most stripped down settings is gonna be very useful.

As far as speed goes your video card isnt gonna help you that much in q3test etc if you are using a modem, you'd be way better off to get cable or ADSL than worrying about the speed of your vid card.

So unless someone is talking about another dual head card out there i could not care less.

              ALBPM,
I dont do bump map nowadays, cos it will probably never exist in real life games implementation. Talking about setting technology trends and industry directions, you tell me is it 3dfx, nvidia, ot that matrods. You know the answer....

THe next technology trend could be hardware Transformation and lighting(in NV10), or T-buffer(wonderful, in V4 napalm), could be S3TC technology brought by 3dfx; BUT very much unlikely EM BUMP MAPPING.

BTW, if you would like some idea of what you are talking about, go there <a href="http://home.pacific.net.hk/~lauty/bump.html">BUMP your G400max</a>

Oh Tylau, the bump mapping isn't the only feature the G400 has.Actually I spend more time working than playing games. The Dual-Head feature is invaluable for any design work. Right now I have the most feature rich card that exists. I don't spend much time worying about the cards that don't exist yet.

                  Hi guys,

out of curiosity, does this NV10 and/or the TnT2 support tri-linear filtering or tri-linear dithering?

                  Thanks,

                  Haig

Haig! I'm shocked, you didn't ask the same question of 3dfx's next offering! It's gonna be a completely new chip, with some fairly interesting new features from the looks of things. By that time tri-linear filtering would be supported almost without a doubt, I'm not aware of tri-linear buffering so I can't even speculate on that.

                    T-Buffer this with your G400

The TNT2 does not support any kind of real trilinear filtering (I think it does some type of bilinear dithering or blending). If you look at some screenshots (try Unreal just because it support trilinear filtering and has some large open areas), you can see immediately that the TNT2 looks worse than either the G400 or the Savage4. I have no idea about the NV10.

                        Did you miss <a href="ftp://ftp.inet.fi/dome/download/videot/voodoo4_splitscreen.mpg">this</a>?

It demonstrates Voodoo 4's Depth of Field and Motion Blurring which, may I be frankly, beat the hell out of all the environ mappings when it comes to moving towards more real-looking animation.
Matrox chose the wrong feature for their product. Who needs environ mapping when you have to push 60fps for motion to look tolerable when using Motion Blur minimum of 25fps would look like cinema.

(BTW. <a href="http://www.bitboys.fi" target="top">Glaze3D</a> also has these features)

remember that they're demonstrating the T-Buffering on a V2 SLI rig...

Shit? I suppose that Expandable MPEG some time ago was eye candy?

Note that it's from no game. It's just some test ran by engineers, and ment to demonstrate the new features.

Also I forgot to mention that on the left there is Voodoo3 and on the right 8xVoodoo2 combo (no joke). It was built to demo the features, not the overall quality..

Um, in that MPEG - the right hand screen is meant to look really cool how it 'blurs' ? Sorry, I don't think that looks very good in the slightest...
