  • I totaly agree.

    One of the major problems with Islam is that it's so decentralized. Every local-yokel Mullah can issue "fatwah's" declaring holy war on this, that or the other. Unfortunately there isn't really a central authority to reach down, grab 'em by the ears and shake some sense into them.

    Until other Muslim clerics get together in an organized manner and start exercising such control we can only conclude that they are exhibiting tacit support for the actions of the radicals or that they have been taking head-in-the-sand lessons from the UN

      You have it more centralized in Iran (at a state level ?), does it help ?
      Don't think you'll manage to get them to have a world islamic council (with real power) or a pope like central figure.

      • I was of course intimating that this should happen among the *moderate* forces in Islam.

        That said the mullahs in Iran face their own problems in that revolution is brewing among the natives, 70% of whom are young folks who don't "get" the whole idea of an Islamic State and are becoming more and more enamored of western culture.

        If the mullahs don't tone themselves down there may be facing a Caucescue style "election"
