lol ... I think that is just a little too harsh and as Britain is a Democratic State it is VERY!!! very unlikely as ppl wouldn’t stand for it. Oh yeah and just to make this valid point America did not devise Democracy as that was a British invention, before America even existed .. hehe On top of that we have more freedom as you have your constitutional rights which are a nightmare to change. So ppl can walk around with weapons legally, where the Uk has Laws that can easily be changed and modified to suit us. So we clearly have a much more effective Democratic state

Yeah, the arguments unfortunately are symptomatic of built-in prejudices. My opinion has been that the US would have less problems with "youth" if like in many European countries there was mandatory military service for at least 12 months. They would at least learn how to get of bed on time (how's that for a stereotype).

Our military is so good now, it might not be a good idea to go back to conscription.
How about "universal mandatory civilian service" of some sort?

PS If the draft had been truly universal, Viet Nam would never have happend the way it did because the opposition would have solidified much earlier.Chuck

Greebe. do you think it is mature to counter his argument by making fun of his age; or would it be more effective if you attacked his argument?Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.
