Tsk... I have a better solution, the best thing is to go out and run/swim/exersise for 30 min. Then your body will be exhausted enough, to sleep.

That or go to the local pharmacy and pick up some melatonin. It's over the counter and works pretty well. Melatonin is the bodys sleep hormone.

I've taken it myself and when it works, it WORKS

Just don't get too far from the bed once you've taken it. The trick is getting the dose right. I find 2 tabs about 30 minutes before bed time is about right.

                    Interesting NASA/JPL article: http://neurolab.jsc.nasa.gov/sleeczei.htm

                    CNN report: http://www.cnn.com/2000/HEALTH/alter...latonin.clock/

It's also effective for treating jet lag.

All that said: make sure that when you go to bed the lights are out and a window is set to let in light in the morning. Natural melatonin production depends on darkness to raise its level and bright light to dissapate it so you can wake up smoothly. Yes, what comes in through your eyelids is enough.

Yes that is all good and well, but also regular eating habbits are very important, in treating insomnia. According to Prof. Dr.Scient. Steven McKnight at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in texas, the body has a second clock, the protein regulating this clock is the NPAS2. Wich is mainly found in the forebrain. It controlls the production of enzymes that determine wether our cell burn or store energy, this clock can be entrained to firing up neurons during the day or during the night...

I'd say taking medicine (even harmless) is probably what id'd do when all other things fail.
