Put it in your Secondary Box !

      That's what I always do
The fact that you run Matrox inside, doesn't mean you never get to run outside.

        • Slashdot is an interesting "news" site, but I hate how they make their money by leeching other people's bandwidth. I'd automatically set it so that if the referrer is slashdot, it turns them away.

          • Pitou is the codename for Parhelia 2.
This is interesting news indeed. I hope though that the code name doesn't become the final product name. Pitou like Parhelia as a marketing name just doesn't do the product justice. I'd like to see a name that instills a sense of fear and awhhh. The competition is using terms like "Rage", "GeForce", "Voodoo" and "Radeon". Matrox has a powerful company name. Why can't it come up with some powerful product names? Here are a couple of thought starters ( Matrix, Piranha ).

            • I think Parhelia does the card justice... it kinda means something... Kinda a quality name...

Pitou just reminds me of that cat!!!

              Maybe the "Parhelia Eclipse"

                • Well now, maybe a little speculation about the architecture 300+ mhz core, 8 pipes?!

It will need this at least to get competitive in raw performance, allthough the current one does very well with the latest drivers considering 4 pipes and 220 mhz.
Offcourse these are not the only things which are important.

I want to go back to Matrox if it gets enough raw performance, the rendering is unmatched, I don't know how to explain, but the Radeon9700 is fast but keeps on jerky from time to time...where as the Parhelia keeps on smooth

                  • I think "Parhelia" sound very cool, almost as cool as "Radeon". But..."Geforce", who thought of that?!?

                    • AFAIK there are lots of pre-Matrox engineers at nVIDIA. probably it's their plan to screw nV up by spreading the nickname GeFart. Oh no, Matrox Sercet Spys.

                            Sun Dog (Parhelia)
A "Sun Dog" or parhelia (mock Sun) is an optical phenomenon produced by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in cirroform clouds. Parhelia are vertical bars of colored light (as tall as the apparent diameter of the Sun) which appear 22 degrees (about 4-5 handwidths) on either side of the Sun.

Nah! Parhelia is just right for this BrainChild of Matrox. Those hefty names have something to live up to.

Besides you should see those Faces when you run Need For Speed Hot Pursuit II, on a 1.2Ghz machine all details on and 1024x786x32...
Most of the time you gonna get a "You got a WHAT ? in there ?" Just Lovely..
