And P650 and P750 should be scale down of SunDog or just Parhelia core on different board.
      SunDog/SunLite = P650/P750
      Pitou = Parhelia 2

I don't know what Parhelia 8X code name though.

Um...I don't think it does mean a new core. The original Parhelia-512 tech specs stated it was AGP 8x, just the cards weren't...

@pace yea... the parhelia GPU actually supports AGP 8X, but the not the PCB. The Parhelia-512 chip whitepaper says that.

            I stand corrected then.
Although I still do hope for a new core.

it wont be a new core, and the cards will be like the g450 hence thier name, just crippled parhelia's.
is a flower best picked in it's prime or greater withered away by time?

After reading the posts here I guess that Matrox's plan could be like this:

For the low-end/2D market the continuation of Millenium series using crippled Parhelia core.
For the high-end market they will release shortly the improved Parhelia with AGP 8x support.

At a time they choose, perhaps next year, the Parhelia will replace Millenium P650/750, maybe with some slight changes and a name like M 1000. And the Pitou will replace Parhelia.

                  Just a thought.

Thanks, I'll give it a try

                      • Matrox won't stand a chance in high end 3d when wildcat, fireGL, and quadros are here

Won't completely agree here. Although you're right, when comparing the naked performance of the competitor top models, matrox can't win here. Well but the third display is a tricky feature, here, as well vector aliasing is.

Further more I won't expect the firms to set onto a graphic board based on QuadroFX-2000, when this funny chip needs a so noisy airflow, that you can't concentrate without a louder radio or else sound source which makes the situation bearable.

ATi on the other hand made many mistakes with their professional drivers. So they often first have to win back the confidence of software engineers and customers...

I see a market for matrox here, but's only my opinion.

                          • IIRC it's only GeForce FX 5600 series that is actually noisy. Don't forget 3DLabs have OGL 2.0 drivers... and their cards can do crazy amount of triangles. (in pro 3D shaders and stuff arn't very important. Its raw performance that matters)

edit: I see Parhelias as mid-range pro-3d products
