    • England has too many churches that look very similar

Since it may help others, this is what I have so far.
The 3rd pic KvH posted is Netherthong
I suspect, that all of them are in a Yorkshire county. I have no clue on the commonality with Austria.

Searching for (yorkshire church) only got me the last pic

The 2nd pic resembles many of the Tudors in West Yorkshire. I haven't the exact one yet.

      • What can I see? A church built in Early English style architecture, probably mid-to- late 12th century, with a N. transept which is unusually large, compared with the nave. This may mean that it was originally attached to some form of monastic establishment. It has probably a lead roof, common for that style. The photo was taken in late winter, (no leaves on tree, but grass appears to be growing, suggesting it is not at a great altitude, possibly East Riding). The sun is quite low, which also suggests winter at 14.35 h. The church orientation is traditional, facing east. The churchyard is better-tended than many and the graves appear to be quite old, suggesting it is no longer used for interments.

There are many churches built in this style in E. Anglia, so it may mean that it is somewhere closer to the Lincolnshire border, rather than the N. of the county, although this can't be taken as absolute fact.

Austria? Haven't a clue! Somebody christened in one church and buried at the other???

                • I would say SE Asia - possibly Thailand, but could be somewhere in India or maybe even Burma... not entirely sure basically. And it's not the "Bridge over the River Kwai"

                  • Certainly not Switzerland, although the bridge can be reminiscent of the Rhaeto railway in Graubunden. Swiss railways are all electric and there are no catenaries. Could you imagine the Swiss allowing that pollution?

I think it is tropical from the vegetation (although I boo-booed two pics ago because I mistook the Lombardy poplars for cypress :-) ).

I think the big question is whether this is a mining line or a public one with n trucks of, say, coal being taken somewhere.

God help the train driver if he derails: there is nothing to hinder a fall into oblivion

                      • It is Asia, but none of places mentioned. It is a coal train.

                        • You're awesome, SF

Yes, Wetwang is correct (sorry I've had my system unhooked and couldn't repond sooner) Of course, the dodgy name is what this has in common with F*cking, Austria and the towns of Netherthong and Penistone (the other church no one got) in Yorkshire.

Looking at a Yorkshire map can be hilarious. I wonder if there are other town names this funny in the rest of the country.
