• i kinda like all this speculation. it at least gives us matrox fans something to look foward to other than "Matrox will be comming out with a card, posibly named g800" which is really all we truly know.

also, if matrox people are reading these forums, they might get a feel of what we want in our next card. hell, maybe we've had some real genius ideas here.

• What I want to know is why anyone here is taking "nihilbitch" seriously. The boy has a dozen posts to his name, and obviously came in here just to troll.

But then again, I suppose that I'm forgetting that he knows "all about" the inner workings at Matrox. But of course he's not under the same NDA as everyone else, right?

Me neither. I myself invented an invisibility device, based on speculations that I saw about the "render subjects nude" feature on upcoming "mRx" cards. (mRx is kewl-er than mtx, btw, imho!)

And using that device, I snuck into the mRx HQ, and what I saw will, IMHO, make you pass out PDQ! It was incredible! They have an entire alternate universe generator. So yes, nihilbitch is correct and there won't be any "G800" because mRx is now working solely on alternate-reality simulations, which is 100 times better, IMHO, AFAIK.

- Gurm

P.S. In case you missed the sarcasm, I'll sum up...

1. nihilbitch = idiot felching moron.
2. nobody knows WTF mRx is up to, IMHO, AFAIK
3. nihilbitch = donkey-molesting dumbass.

Ok, am I being clear?

• Watch out...you might hurt my feelings with all that name calling.

First of all, what makes you think I'm male?
Secondly, yes, I am restricted by an NDA, but only as a former employee. And I haven't said anything here that breaches that agreement.

Anyways, I can see that many of you are more interested in ridiculing those with an informed opinion (and I mean, sure, I only have a dozen posts here so what could I possibly know?...all knowledge grows from this forum apparently), than in discussing some obvious facts that you don't need to be an ex-employee, current employee, beta tester, or anyone but an individual with half a brain to question.

I didn't come here intending to start anything, or to insult anyone. I was hoping to throw a bit of well-informed 'speculation' into the discussion.

Anyways, good luck with your 'G800'. Oh, and by the way, Mtx is just something we use internally in email and stuff, 'cause it's faster.

Cheers. It's been fun.

It?

In accordance with:
And as a matter a fact, I do have a clue. I know who the beta testers are, and I know who visits this forum from Mtx.
That could make you either a security guard, or the door(wo)men, or even the cousin of Della Roca (for all we know), nothing more

Oy, we like that !! We're the U S E R S !!
What can users otherwise do than, after their problems with their cards are over, go for a little buddy to buddy hunt for details we might like in a next-gen card? Do we do anything wrong here? Should we ask Mx (oy, even shorter !!) if we're right or wrong?

Go take a big hike, will ya !! We're not Matrox forums, if you came by and saw something resembling Mtx. Go to Matrox Forums and drivel there !!

Well informed speculation... Now there's a contradiction in terms. You under NDA as you said above, but still.. Okay... I give up

Anyways, good luck with your 'G800'.
No, my Rising Eagle !!

Oh, and by the way, Mtx is just something we use internally in email and stuff, 'cause it's faster.
As I said already, Mx would've been faster.
Gosh, thinking about that... An Mx G400 Mx... guess

Cheers. It's been fun.
Hope you have better evidence in say 10 years !!

Jord.

• yep... looks like nihilist is nothing more than a former Matrox-employee indeed, that seeks a reason why it's better to work for NVDA (hehe, using the short notation too ).

Users have never been told misleading info on this board. They've only speculated, and the people who know about the stuff only have been slightly hinting where the truth lies, and have never affirmated anything.

• Uhh...rags,you repeated exactly what i said in my previous post.

So you're saying that there is no benefit to hardware T.l if you're running a fast enough processor huh???

Ask yourself this question.....

Take a game like Q3,why does it consistently run faster at low resolutions on a Geforce card compared to a voodoo 5 all else being equal(cpu,memory,etc...).

Remember,at such low resolutions, the fill rate limits or memory bandwith of both cards aren't being stressed at all,so fill rate is a non issue.

Give up???... .

Well here's the possible answers...

One possibility that that the Geforce's video drivers are better in terms of overall throughput than the the ones on the voodoo 5,but that's unlikely to be the case.

The other would be latency issues that directly relate to the fact that bus speeds are not nearly fast enough to feed a non T.L video card.

Did you ever wonder the steps that actual game data has to travel in either case.

There are two possibilities

With non T.l video card in which all t.l calculations, among other things as well, have to go through the cpu,it goes something like this:

Memory--->motherboard chipset---->cpu--->chipset again--->video card.

That's without taking in consideration chipset arbitration issues because of other devices in the system(sound cards,network,etc...),wich slows down things even further.

In a system that has a T.l video card and a game that's optimized for it,it's much simpler and faster:

Memory---> motherboard chipset---->video card.

I think it's fairly obvious wich way is going to be faster.

Modern cpu's have no problem in processing huge amounts of data, the problem lies in getting that data to the video card as fast as possible.

Look no further than the latest p4 reviews, that as everybody knows,as long as there isn't optimized software for it,it's barely faster than an athlon, and in some cases slower.

But if you look at the Q3 benchmarks with it,it's memory bandwith advantge simply blows away any any other single cpu system, reaching on average a 50 fps extra.

That happends simply because the game data is getting to the video card much more quickly than on any other system.

And it's unfortunate that there are no reviews of the p4 with a voodoo 5 card in Q3 at low resolution, where even though it's bus speeds are much higher, there would very likely still be a difference.

I think i've proved my point nicely.

And i suggest that even if you don't agree,at least bring actual FACTS to prove otherwise.

note to self...

Assumption is the mother of all f***ups....
