  • Sorry about this guys but we have been speculating right along with y'all and as Maggie said 'adding fuel to the fire'. Hasn't this been fun?

LOL Thats about what I expected Joel. But thats ok, because yes, it has been fun.

it's the other little ones might start asking for info again

Yep, I know exactly what you mean Pace. There's at least one new person a week that comes around asking about specs for the G800, and boy does it get tiring. Heh We should start feeding them new completely random false specs everytime someone asks. We could at least get some amusment out of it that way!

    • Maybe one of the more web-savvy among us could set up a web site that lists the current *rumored* specs, and we could refer anyone that asks to the page.

Oh.. And have the page generate a random set of features on the fly each time it's visited, so that you could visit it more than once and see more than 1 possible feature set?

          • Ace: I think you're onto something there with a web site that has the rumoured specs etc - though I don't know if we could fill a whole site with info. We could have news updates for the whole Matrox scene - maybe call it MatroxUsers or something. We could have the rumour mill down the left hand side of the page .

            Paul.

            • Thanks for the link, Pace , but I meant a site dedicated just for the purpose of rumors, with a dynamic list of the G800's features/performance info on it (so it could give a different combination of features at random each time you visit it).

That way, since nobody here really knows what the G800 will have, and is guessing anyway, we could save a little time guessing what the feature set us every time someone else asks, just by referring them to the "G800 specification web site", hehe.

              • Just read something interesting:

3Dlabs®, Inc. (Nasdaq: TDDD - news) and Real Time Visualization (RTViz), a division of Mitsubishi Electric, today announced a technical and marketing collaboration to tightly integrate the products of both companies. This collaboration is expected to enable a new class of advanced visualization applications that require the seamless blending of polygonal graphics and voxel-based volumetric rendering

                Read full here

``The merging of polygonal and voxel techniques establishes the next significant advance in 3D graphics technology -- enabling a wide range of advanced vertical applications on the PC,'' said Jamie Jacobs, General Manager of Real Time Visualization
Could it be the Matrox has already MERGED (FUSED)polygonal and voxel techniques???

                  • I think a voxel-accelerator, will really, REALLY kick a LOT of ASS!

                    just imagine Deltaforce hardware accelerated...

                    • Hmm, indeed.. DeltaForce 4 (deltaforce 3 is with polygons, bweuch) in 1600x1200.. Grass actually waving in the wind, real fog banks drifting along... The silence, a gr****opper, and then, the thundering explosion of a grenade, with the ground literally flying around your ears, leaving a smoking crater.

And real bulletholes in tents, buildings etc.

                      Yup, we NEED voxels

Yes Randy, you paint a beautiful picture....

And we just know that Matrox will make it look a little bit nicer again...

                        Paul.

                        • Imagine this....

"Today Matrox announced that their new graphics chip will support real-time ray-tracing for ultra-realistic graphics rendering. They have effectively leap-frogged competition from ATI NVidia and 3dfx."

                          Wouldn't that be cool.....
For anyone who didn't get it, that wasn't really a press release.
