It seems that there is a misunderstanding going on between stencil shadows on Parhelia so let me explain. Parhelia will not FAA stencil shadows simply because they're not polygons. As for Dungeon Siege, they are projected shadows. And it all depends how zoomed you are when taking the screenshot. Try zooming in all the way in on your ATI or Nvidia and see what happens. Take a look at the shot here to have an idea what i am talking about:

    Regards,
I won't be able to test that out until I get off work ROM, but thanks for that info. I know the Parhelia won't FAA the shadows, but I was wondering if it could still affect them in some way. I'll try to go to a snow-like region and do some zoom in tests later tonight. But on that shot you posted, the shadows still look better than the shadows on Kruzin's pic, but then again it could be nothing and just perspective...

    • As far as i know i haven't seen any complaints about it from developers, QA, or Microsoft themselves. I'll investigate it for you just in case we drop to low-res shadows or whatever you want to call them,

As I found with all my G series cards, that completely depends on the application being used to play the video, not the card.
Some will work the way you want, others won't.

With Parhelia, it does support overlay on both primary and secondary. I can now drag my video window to the secondary, and it will keep playing. I also found with this setup, i could drag a video window, and the remote control to the secondary, and tell the player to go full screen (not using DVDMax). Like this, I can then not only see the flic, but have control from the second display without losing the picture.
        Correction, Mr. Kursin.

It supports overlay on ALL three outputs. Hardware on the primary and secondary, and software suported on the tertiary.

Let me make this very clear for you.

FAA doesn't, in any way whatsoever, have any effect on the shadows.

I know that, Mr. ParheliaUNK, but Jake was asking about TV-out, and as we know, you can't have TV-out in a triple-head configuration, so I did't feel it was worth mentioning in this case. I did mention it several pages back in reply to a post that it did relate to.

Doesn't hurt to research on it though, hehe. I will still do those tests to see if I find any differences on shadows.

              • speaking of shadows (...since buddman here made me look carefully at those screenshots so many times to compare.. hehe)

isn't it strange how the characters have shadows, yet... the trees in the background doesn't cast any...

                hmm...

                • Well, I performed a few tests and I just can't see the jaggies in the shadows. Maybe I just have to see it in action...

Oh well, that made for an interesting day on the web. riPFire, yeah, it'd be cool if they made shadows for everything, would look very realistic, but that would require one monster of a card....look at all those trees.

                      • i may be way off here but it lokks like the "jaggie shadows" might be only on moving characters while the clean shadows are on the stationary ones. Also it looks like the angles are effecting the shadows as well

                        • Great thread. Lots of good info from you lucky Parhelia owners. Congrat's.

What about Parhelia for video editing? I'm particularly interested in Parhelia's support for flat panel LCD displays. If I get two 20" flat panels, can Parhelia 128 support 1600x1200 resolution on both displays at the same time?

                          Thanks.

                          • Yep - 2 1600x1200 displays is fine.

                            • I have some questions please...

                              1. Have you tested a WinTV card on this on the Parhelia 128 on the second monitor and & 3rd?

                              2. Is it possible to have dual monitors CRT's and then also have a TV-out for the third monitor?

it seems like the shadows on this screenshot looks almost the same as the screenshot buddman was talking about ( the shadow of the archer's bow for instance)
