  • If they're gonna close the gfx card production facilities they won't be too worried if you don't buy any M products in the near future I'm afraid...

    • This is soooooo f*@d up.
The hark back to 1984 was good.
Big brother most certainly is breathing over our shoulders.
What have we become? No freedom of speech, no freedom to complain?
Companies that can just shut out its clients complaints?
Are there no laws here, or are the laws for the wrong people?
They have a obligation to their clients, to follow up each and every clients woes, and attempt to repair them.
If The P is too badly screwed to be repaired, then they will have to call back every single P.
Car manufacturers do it, why shouldn't they?
They have monetary problems? Then they shouldn't have tried to make a quick buck by selling dodgy goods.
They fumbled, trying to screw us over, and now they have only themselves to blame.
Accept it, pay for it, and then see whats left to scrape off the floor.

you talk like a 13 year old, wake up and smell the roses, this is the real world we live in.

blowing of steam and complaining is your right, but you have no idea what is going on in matrox, you say "they shouldn't have tried to make a quick buck by selling dodgy goods", that statement alone shows your immaturity, do you think they spent all that time intentionally designing 'dodgy goods'.

how do you know the P is dodgy? do you even have one? because half the people in this bloody thread slagging of matrox dont, does the 16xFAA work right? no, is the anis filtering slow? yes, the banding and overlay issues I have not seen, but they are obviously major problems for some people, but the P is still the best card out there and if some hardware sites had bothered to test it correctly and given it a fair shout it would have got much better reviews.

I have had a P right from the begining, its not perfect, but I would not change it for anything, not even a GF-FX, and yes I do have the money if I wanted to, admitadly matrox's PR could have done a much better job of things but I have been using matrox cards since before Mr Gates had a brainstorm and I sure as hell dont see any reason to stop now.

        • gordo-uk,
so you say only people who bought a P are allowed to complain about Matrox? Who do you think you are?
You better read the postings you are quoting.
They are indeed selling a product that has issues, and if we can believe VigilAnt (I do so) they would have had the chance to iron out the bugs with a new revision, but decided not to do so.
Nobody accused the people at Matrox to intentionally design dodgy goods !
I have been using Matrox cards for many years now, at home and at work but that does not imply that Matrox is beyond criticism, no matter what they do.
IMHO it's not Evildead who sounds a little imature...

Since quite a few experianced people have reported the defect it's easy to know that the card has a problem. That also means that the P cannot be the best card out there. Unless as Dghost and Maggi have reported it gives them headaches. If hardware sites did test it properly the flaw would have noticed earlier. Your logic is flawed on that point.
I agree with you that Matrox wouldn't have done it purpously but perhaps finacal restraints are now preventing them from fixing the problem.

I have a pretty good job for a 13 year old then...

You mentioned that they did it intentionally, not me.

              No i don't have a Parhelia.

Yes, i have plenty of money to buy one, but no, i won't.
I have also been using Matrox cards for a long time, i have even paid their higher prices when i could have gotten a much faster card for the money. I didn't buy one because i don't like jumping in and buying one when they cost an arm and a leg. Also, Matrox has sometimes taken a few months to get their products up to perfection, and i waited to see what the Parhelia was capable of, and whether it was worth all the money. I have no need for 3 screens, i'm having enough difficulty finding space for 2. Their card had problems they must have known about b4 retail time, and they put it out anyway.
There is a very good reason to stop and wait, Matrox has problems. The Parhelia has even more problems. I don't want any part of them until they are solved, or put aside indefinately.

              You got a Parhelia? Cool!
              You're happy with it? Cool!
Don't give other people grief because they are not happy with it!!

No, but how can you comment about a card you dont have?

How long did it take ATI to sort out the 8500? longer than they or the users would have liked, but they did. Everybody knew if you were serious about games, you didnt get an ATI cos their drivers were crap and the cards were slow (I am referring to ATI prior to the first radeon), now look at them.

and if the self opinionated critics and whiners around here had a little faith in matrox and their long history of quality, they to will turn it around and sort out the problems. All this bollocks about 'uncaring management' 'only out to make a quick buck' 'stuff the customer' is exactly that, bollocks.

You and I both know that the hypocrites around here who are 'Never buying another matrox card' will be first in the que patting them on the back saying 'Always knew you could do it, your the best' when they start to turn things around.

I am not, I dont except whining from people who DONT have it, they are just 'Flying Pickets'. Anyone who has one has all the right in the world to complain, but for gods sake keep it real.

                    • Well then Gordo, you can just ignore my comments then. Except the following:

I'm terribly sorry for complaining about the Parhelia. I thought it might actually help, but no, now I realise it's actually harming Parhelia owners.

And you can now begin ignoring me.

I've been slowly invesigating this issue whilst making the occasional dig at Matrox. I don't have a Parhelia - yet. I might never have one. I was quite excited when it was announced, but for some reason it took me a while to get around to buying one (Uni exams, graduation, job hunting), and then I heard of the problems.

I was even thinking about a petition to get it sorted, just to be helpful (although my CGI knowledge somewhat affects this at the moment, and I was hoping for someone else to make me the web script ).

                      End of my whining.

                            This is ANALogous to:

"You can only complain about cigarettes if you smoke."

                            • Ah but that is completely different as someone who does not smoke could be affected by it through passive smoking(being around ppl who smoke) so it does affect non- smokers. Where the Parhelia on the other hand only really affects Parhelia owners who chose to buy the card That is why your analogy does not work

                              • Pardon, but if a truth is a truth and that lends one to make a decision (as it does everyone) then your point is moot.

Besides what about all those inconsiderate smokers that force others to breath their bad, ie secondhand smoke?
