Yup, the transgretion scene was the cheesyest part of the movie

I've done some looking around the net and found that in a few places, people are commenting that Anakin's fall happens too fast. He goes from pledging loyalty to Palpatine to killing younglings. Many people think that there might have been some in between scenes that were later cut. I've also seen the comment that the first two movies should have been compressed into one and that the last movie should have been made into two. That would have been pretty good.

You know, as I watched the movie I kept saying to myself that I understood what Lucas was going for, and that he had some good ideas, but that he wasn't executing them well. Unfortunately, the plot detracted from the action.

One site I was reading put it best: "Anakin, hold me like you did on Naboo" *barf*

Lucas doesn't know how to write dialog or how to direct drama.

So do I... Let's not forget that in episode 6, Vader saves Luke from the Emporer. That can be seen as some good...

Cause I have a hard time believing that babies are evil.

It does pass by quite quickly, and I'm not paying another 11$ just to confirm all this!

            Some more questions...

            1. R2D2's memory wasn't wiped, how come he didn't say that Luke and Leia were twins (in ep. 4-5-6) ? (C3PO could have translated)
            2. Vader is told that he killed Padmé. Shouldn't he have felt the presence of Luke and Leia in the force after they were born? (in one of the later episodes, Vader feels Luke's presence) Or shouldn't he have felt he was being lied to?
            3. Vader/Anakin can kill using the force to strangle someone (like he did with Padmé). Why didn't he do this to Obi Wan?
            4. Who placed the order for the droid army? In Ep. 2 it was said the order was placed over 10 years ago (I forgot the name of the Jedi who placed the order, without knowledge of the council). It couldn't have been Palpatine, or the Jedi would have known he has knowlegde of the force.
            5. How come the lava melts metal, but scars Anakin?

One could make the argument that once he made the decision to allow temptation by the dark side, he was engulfed by it. Anakin was already filled with hate and loathing; we'd even seen him act on his hate in episode 2.

                  Yes...
But I had the impression Padmé was almost convincing him, until Anakin saw Obi Wan in the ship. He then saw Padmé as a traitor...

The irony is that Padmé didn't die due to complications at childbirth, but as the result of the loss of Anakin. So his turn to the dark side caused just that what he wanted to prevent...
Her death was also different from the way she died in his dreams. Could Palpatine have steered his dreams in order to win him over?

                    1. If he only saw them as babies, he might not have known. Then again, maybe he's just really good at keeping secrets
                    2. Likely he increased his mastery of the force as time went on. After-all, he no longer had any distractions once he became Vader.
                    3. Because Obi Wan would have been able to block it or something?

In the EU, do they ever talk about the burocratic mess left by Luke, Anakin, and Co. after killing the Emperor? I mean really, he must have had to keep the Senate around as a tool to manage the empire. Who was running the show after Palpatine was killed? Leah?
LOL ... when I first read that last night I thought, "what does Europe have to do with Star Wars?" That's what I get for MURCing past midnight

In the Extended Universe (EU), the "New Republic" is formed after the fall of Palpatine. It is literally called the New Republic. The Senate is rebuilt, and Leah does take the helm (if memory serve me correctly) ... at least for a while. Han and Leah eventually get married and Leah pops out ... you guessed it! Twins. Luke rebuilds the Jedi temple and begins training Jedi. Leah's twins turn out to be a couple of youngling jedi bad@$$3$. The dark side returns when one of the students delves into a Sith book hidden in the archives (or he finds it somewhere else, I can't remember)...

and I haven't kept up with the EU after that. THere are about half a trillian EU SW books and comics that take place AFTER Return of the Jedi. It's nearly impossible to keep track. Dark Horse comics released a comic series where the Emperor came back (he had clone factory dedicated to making clones of himself in case someone offed him, and was able to inhabit the clone's body) ... and then Luke offed him ... again.

ANd it goes on and on and on and on and on....

                        1) He must had had orders not to. R2D2 is a loyal little droid.

                        2) The Jedi can't pinpoint individual presences, especially over long distances, unless something drastic happens. Vader senses Obi-wan on the Deathstar, but can't necessarily find him. Obi-wan only felt the destruction of Alderan because it was millions of people dying (a great disturbance). Vader never knew Luke was powerful in the force until a) he got close to Luke flying over the Deathstar, and b) Luke used the force to fire the torpedos. Plus it is made obvious that certain jedi can hide their presence within the force. Palpatine blinded the Jedi from seeing the immediate future AND was able to hide his presense from the Jedi for well over a decade before he got caught. Yoda hid on Degoba, Obi-wan and Luke on Tatooine and never got caught, despite Vader and Palpatine looking. Leah, who was obviously strong enough in the force that Yoda thought she could be a Jedi, was a senator on Courasant and Palpatine never uncovered her identity becuase she couldn't use the force ... yet.

                        3) My guess would be because powerful Jedi could counter the attack. Certain races and strong minds are immune to Jedi mind control. Yoda could block Sith lightning like it was nothing. I'm sure there's just a counter to it ... and if Anakin risked using it, and it didn't work, that would have exposed him to an attack without being ready to counter.

                        4) SW lore says it was Palpatine, or a Sith apprentice that disguised himself as a recently deceased Jedi master. SOmething like that. Lots of rumors, and they all point back to the Sith and Palpatine.

                        5) The force is strong with this one :P That or it was very cool magma :P

He didn't fall into the lava, he caught fire from sheer proximity. That he survived was probably due to his force powers.

to think that all obi wan had to do was kick him the extra foot towards the lava, and the whole premise of the last 3 movies would be out the window

                              Yeah, I said that earlier:

He should have used the Force to push him in the Lava. It could have been deemed a merciful act; to end his life quickly. But then of course we wouldn't have episodes 4-6. And without episodes 4-6, there wouldn't have been episodes 1-3. It's kind of a time paradox. Freaky!
Funny how the entire series is predicated on Obi-Wan's botching of a simple job.

He botched it because he thought of Anakin as a brother. He said he wouldn't kill Anakin to yoda before yoda told him he wasn't strong enough to take on Palpatine. He did what I guess he thought was enough to damage Anakin. I mean he cut off his legs and his arm. I guess Obi-Wan did what he deemed to be substantial bodily damage to Anakin.
