    • If Matrox did force Ant to zap the threads as we suspect, they might as well shut up shop now.
As others have said, its not a good idea to alienate your biggest fanbase and user group, especially when your flagship product isnt selling and is being overshadowed by the opposition.

My faith in Matrox took a dent when the Parhelia didnt perform as expected, and another dent when it turns out parts of it are broken. Now this?
Matrox is going to have to pull one very big rabbit from one very small hat to get me to buy another card from them.
      Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.

He's talking Pitou with all the missing vivo features.
And that everything will work flawlessly out of the god-damn box.

And it also includes the long lost x-ray vision feature, so you can see through peoples clothes... (i think that was intended for the G400.. )

Well, I am not too worried if bugs appear in released products.

I just demand that the companies take responsability for the bugs in their products. Whether that be with good workarounds or product recalls I don't really care. But just don't sweep it under the carpet and ignore your users!

That is indeed true, but at the same time has Matrox officially said that the banding is not gonna be fixed??? Last thing I heard was that they were looking into the issue. Both my own Parhelia and the one we use at school, experience slight banding, but it's possible to minimise it with better cables and enabled v-sync. and also we experienced less banding with the Linux betaversion. (porting windows)

                        • Unless they state otherwise, the banding is "normal"

                          • Anyhow, I'm pretty sure we won't see any products b4 this xmas considering there's only 4 weeks left and nothing is announced yet(not counting distribution, to shops, etc...). If I were a gfx card producer company I wouldn't miss this xmas madness. What do you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to Haig, they are still looking into the problem.

The moment they say it is normal, is the moment they said it wasn't going to get fixed. If something is normal it is considered part of the specification, and then by definition, isn't something that is fixed.

The amount of banding you get is ussually determined by how hard you drive the video card. Since the linux drivers are young, they probably don't drive the video card as hard as the windows drivers do.
