  • Well, well, The dawn is approaching......... we will soon see the sun (parhelia) lighting the horizon.

I have seen the light, although forboding, yet stimulating.

Like many worthwhile things, it will require significant investment

      • That image would make a nice avatar, but not for the Parhelia.

That's a "diamond ring" effect from sulight coming between mountains on the moon during an eclipse.

Parhelia are a terrestrial atmospheric phenomena.

Sorry, chuck, would you prefer costly, pricy or not cheap?

I believe most murcers would complain about the price of the upper end card, but would sell their mother's to get one

                  • I'm not too worried about the cost. I'm happy with my current Radeon8500 for the moment.

It's still good to see that Matrox might have a worthy contender next time I want to get a new gfx-card - they have already missed two of my upgrade cycles (i.e. Radeon64VIVO instead of G450 and R8500 instead of G550).

                    • I'm still running my Hercules Prophet 4500 64 MB (Kyro II) heap of plastic. It's good enough, but I wan to play WarCraft 3 at 1600x1200x32 at obscenely high frame rates, damn it!!!

I'll probably get the fastest gaming version of the card. Just as long as said card does not reach quadruple digits in the price tag (USD of course).

                      • I doubt I'd get the Uber P card, but not for a lack of funds. The low or mid-range card will probably be more than enough for me. I doubt that many of the MURCers would utilize the power of the high-end card since it apparently will be targeted at pro users.

                          • Well, I'll probably go with the the cheapest version (32/64 MB) that has a sub-15 and a DVI-I connector, for my work puter, but I'll also get the highest-end (or second highest end, depending on how manay hundreds is the difference) 128/256 for my very personnal (andequally noisy) workstation.

That ought to get me to nearly $1k US, right Ant?

well, im scared to death about the rumored 1000$ price tag.

if it is supposed to compete with high end 3dlabs cards, then it will probably cost an and a leg.

that said, if it is WAY faster/better than the best gaming card out there, then i can understand the high pricetag.

but it takes more than just speed and features, to make it worth that much to me.
the only hardware i will pay that much for, is something that can satisfy me, for more than 3 years (like a high-end 21" monitor), maybe im under-estimating matrox, but i can´t imagine a gaming card that can keep me satisfied that long.

but then again, never say never...
